Erika Brown

Ms. Brown has built a career out of telling stories and building relationships.
She joined Greylock Partners in 2009.
Previously, she was the director of marketing and business development at Matrix Partners and spent more than ten years as a writer with Forbes.At Matrix Partners she helped the firm and its portfolio companies communicate more effectively, while creating and maintaining strategic partnerships.
She joined Forbes in January 1997 as a reporter.
Her first project was researching the Forbes 400 List of the wealthiest Americans, for which she covered the software, Internet and venture capital industries.
In 2000 she relocated to the Silicon Valley bureau to follow the dramatic tales that were unfolding in the region during the tech meltdown.
Ms. Brown penned eight cover stories for Forbes magazine and wrote a column called “Everything Ventured” for Forbes.com.
In addition to writing features about entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, she ran the Forbes Midas List, the top 100 dealmakers in tech, for six years.
She was an Associate Editor when she left in 2008 to join Matrix Partners in its Silicon Valley office as Director of Marketing and Business Development.
Ms. Brown grew up in New York, primarily in Forest Hills Gardens, Queens.
She attended Townsend Harris High School at Queens College and the State University of New York at Albany, where she majored in English and minored in Business.
After graduation she worked in Manhattan at Morgen-Walke Associates, an investor relations and financial P.R.
firm (since acquired).
While there, she assisted publicly traded companies with getting their messages out to their shareholders through press releases and the financial media.
