Summit's primary focus is on acquiring small- to medium-sized private companies that are profitable and have the potential to grow through new ownership, capital, financial restructuring or through synergies or economies of scale with other Summit holdings. They look for companies with $10 million to $30 million in annual revenue and $2 million to $5 million EBITDA. Summit is not restricted to specific industry segments but favors sales/distribution or light manufacturing companies. They do not typically pursue life-style type businesses or small, stand-alone retail businesses. Summit prefers companies in the continental US specifically those in Central time zone locations. They also seek situations where the existing management team remains in whole or in part. Typically, deals are structured where Summit purchases 51%-100% of the equity the company. Transaction structure varies on a case by case basis.
