Lori Garver is an operating advisor at Bessemer and the CEO of Earthrise, a philanthropy that creates meaningful earth science content from satellite data to inform and activate educators, journalists, and decision makers to combat climate.
Lori is the author of Escaping Gravity: My Quest to Transform NASA and Launch a New Space Age.
Lori served as Deputy Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) from 2009 to 2013, and led the agency’s transition team for President-Elect Obama.
Lori has also held senior positions including general manager of the Air Line Pilots Association, a union representing over 60,000 commercial airline pilots, vice president of the Avascent Group, and associate administrator for Policy and Plans at NASA.
Lori has served as a member of the board of directors of Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR), and chair of the Governance and Nominations Committee.
She is a co-founder of the Brooke Owens Fellowship, a non-profit organization providing internships and mentorship to collegiate women pursuing degrees in aerospace fields.
She is also the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from Women in Aerospace, three NASA Distinguished Service Medals, the Alumni Achievement Award from George Washington University, and an Honorary Doctorate from Colorado College.

in Political Economy from Colorado College and an M.A.
in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from the George Washington University.
She and her husband David have two adult sons and live in Washington D.C.
