Jim Smith

Dr. James F.
Smith is a Chief Economist at Parsec Financial Management, Inc. and a Member of Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
He joined Parsec Financial in February 2006.
He has had an outstanding 35-year career as an Economist in academia, business, government, and trade associations.
Dr. Smith's work career has included positions with Sears, Roebuck and Co., Union Carbide Corporation, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the President's Council of Economic Advisers and the National Association of Realtors, among others.
Since 1998, he has been an adjunct professor at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Dr. Smith was a former member of the European Council of Economists and served as its co-chair.
He earned all three of his economic degrees from Southern Methodist University and became a Certified Business Economist.
