The International Association of Fire Fighters, headquartered in Washington, DC, represents full-time professional fire fighters and paramedics who protect the nation's population. Affiliates to their members protect communities in every state in the United States and in Canada. The IAFF is one of the most active lobbying organizations in Washington; its Political Action Committee, FIREPAC, is among the top one percent of the PACs in the country. In addition to city and county fire fighters and emergency medical personnel, IAFF members include state employees, federal workers and fire and emergency medical personnel employed at certain industrial facilities.

Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) is a government-owned pension fund management firm headquartered in Pasadena, California. LACERA was founded in 1938 and administers defined retirement plan benefits for the employees of its parent company, Los Angeles County, and outside districts. The firm has also administered the Retiree Healthcare Benefits Program. LACERA is further responsible for managing the pension plan and Other Post-Employment Benefits trusts that fund these programs.
