Dr. Mockenhaupt joined the Foundation in 1999.
Before joining the Foundation, Dr. Mockenhaupt spent 16 years with AARP in Washington, D.C., where she specialized in health and aging.
Noting that she has always been interested in older adults, she co-authored the book, Healthy Aging, with Kathleen Boyle and has written many journal articles on this issue.
Her other positions with AARP included providing technical assistance on health issues with AARPs Field Services, serving as manager of Health Advocacy Services, and director of the National Resource Center on Health Promotion and Aging, a joint AARP/Administration on Aging program that provided intensive technical assistance on health promotion for older persons to State Units on Aging.
She also has held positions at Focus Technologies in Washington, D.C.; the National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health, Georgetown University; and the National Health Screening Council, Bethesda, Md.
Dr. Mockenhaupt received a Ph.D.
in health education from the University of Maryland, a graduate certificate in gerontology from the Center on Aging at the University of Maryland, an M.P.H.
in health administration and health education from Columbia University, and a B.S.
in biology from the Pennsylvania State University.
In the fall of 2007, she will be enrolled at the Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business Executive M.B.A.
