Mr. Mark Bateman is a Director of ESG & SRI Research at Aperio Group LLC.

He started at the Investor Responsibility Research Center (IRRC) and held various roles—research analyst on military and political issues, director of the Environmental Information Service, and Vice President of Research and Operations.
During that time, he served on the original steering committee of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), helping to develop standards for sustainability disclosure.
More recently, he served as the Director of Research for IW Financial.
He received his undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a graduate degree from George Washington University.
