John C. Lorentzen

John has represented clients in connection with tax benefited financing transactions using lease, partnership and consolidated return structures since starting as a lawyer at Winston & Strawn in 1980.
His clients have included some of the largest corporate owner-operators of financed property as well as some of the largest infrastructure investors.
The underlying financed assets have most frequently been energy related requiring John to build significant familiarity with that asset class ranging from gas wells, to conventional power plants to alternative and renewable energy projects.
John joined The Deerpath Group, Inc. in 1987.
Deerpath had been his most regular client and was a boutique investment bank specializing in tax oriented financings.
John progressed to Managing Director responsible for all tax oriented financings before departing Deerpath to return to the practice of law in 1992.
While at Deerpath, John began investing in highly complex private transactions with a group of co-investors who are still in deals together from that era and who regularly source and cross invest in deals yet today.
Through this process, John has built a significant portfolio of energy, real estate and structured finance transactions in addition to an operating company portfolio.
