THIESS WINS MAJOR ENERGY CONTRACT IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Thiess has been awarded a new contract by Western Power to work with the energy provider to upgrade and maintain its electrical distribution network throughout metropolitan Perth, as well as the south-west and mid north-west regions of Western Australia.
The new performance-based contract has an estimated value of $125 million over a 2 year term with options for further 2 x 1 year extensions.
Managing Director Bruce Munro said the new contract reaffirms the strong relationship between Thiess and Western Power.
"This demonstrates the commitment and leadership of the Thiess team in WA, our depth of expertise, quality of service and commitment to safety and innovation," Mr Munro said.
Thiess' Energy business is a national leader in the Transmission and Distribution sector and since 2005 has carried out HV electrical upgrades and construction projects for the Western Power overhead and underground south west interconnected network.
The new contract with Western Power has ideally positioned the Thiess Energy business to pursue strategic growth opportunities throughout the Western region.
