Stephen J.
Kelly, Managing Director, is a senior Portfolio Manager and Head of the BlackRock Private Investments Fund (BPIF) within BlackRock Private Equity Partners (PEP).
BPIF is a '40 Act registered investment fund designed to provide Accredited Investors with access to private equity with lower minimums, defined liquidity, and tax-friendly reporting.
BPIF is the first registered fund to combine PEP's global private equity platform with BlackRock's differentiated sourcing capabilities, brand, and Aladdin suite of tools and represents one of many products and solutions bringing alternative investments to retail investors globally.
Mr. Kelly has more than 31 years of private equity investment and related experience.
Mr. Kelly's service with the firm dates to 1999, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006.
At MLIM, he was a founder and principal of the Private Equity Partners business responsible for leading the team's investments in private equity funds, directs and secondaries with a focus on venture capital, technology, and growth buyouts.
Since joining BlackRock, Mr. Kelly has served in a number of leadership roles within PEP including Global Head of Business Operations, and is currently a member of PEP's Investment, Executive, Valuation and Allocation Committees.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 1999, Mr. Kelly spent ten years as a management and technology consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton where he led numerous information technology strategy, design, and implementation initiatives.
Mr. Kelly earned a BS degree in engineering from the University of Dayton, an MS degree in engineering from the University of Maryland and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
