Prior to his partnership with Waller, Lansden, Dortch & Davis, Mr. Burnstein served as a law clerk to the Chief U.S.
District Judge Charles R.
Simpson, III, in the Western District of Kentucky from 1996 to 1997.
He practices in the areas of securities law, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and technology law.
He managed the $54 million acquisition of interests in six ambulatory surgery centers in Southern California by a publicly-traded ambulatory surgery center company.
Recently, he managed the firm's work on a $250 million acquisition for a leading national provider of behavioral healthcare services, as well as numerous smaller acquisitions for the company.
He also represented the nation's largest investor-owned hospital company in the formation of a cancer research joint venture with a nationally-renowned group of oncologists.
Mr. Burnstein assisted an outpatient healthcare services company in launching a new division focusing on stereo tactic radio surgery and represented a leading owner/operator of hospice and palliative care facilities in the acquisition of two hospices in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Burnstein has served on the faculty of a number of continuing legal education seminars on topics in mergers and acquisitions and venture capital investing.
Mr. Burnstein graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a BA in 1993.
He received a JD from Vanderbilt in 1996.
He is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations with the ABA Section of Business Law, ABA Section on Health Law and Young Lawyers.
He is a guest lecturer on Venture Capital and Emerging Businesses at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management.
