Tarpon-IM is an active manager which follows an investment approach based on intrinsic value, a Contrarian approach, portfolio concentration, a long-term owner perspective and a deep understanding of the management, operations and stakeholders of each investee company to invest in listed and unlisted companies in Brazil and South America. The firm believes that intrinsic value and market value tend to converge in the long run and aims to identify overlooked and under-valued opportunities by focusing on companies with low liquidity, complex corporate structures or poorly understood business models and tends to invest in a relatively low number of companies. They are typically the largest minority shareholder in their investments and may also hold a board seat. Tarpon-IM generally sources transactions through their network contacts and aims to identify investment opportunities that include strategic partners and/or co-investors having complementary skills to their own. They typically hold an investment for three to five years.
