Dr. Johanna D.
Chua is a Chief Asia Economist at Citigroup Global Markets Asia Ltd.
She is a Managing Director responsible for economics research across Asia Pacific ex-Japan region covering both fixed-income & equity markets.
Prior to her role in Hong Kong, she was Chief Asia Emerging Market Trading Strategist where she was responsible for Asian FX, commodities and currencies and the also Asia Sovereign Credit Analyst.
Before that, she had also worked for the sovereign strategy group in New York at Lehman Brothers, the fiscal policy division of International Monetary Fund in Washington, as well as conducted academic research with the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Harvard Institute for International Development and the University of Connecticut's Food Marketing Policy Research Center.
Dr. Chua completed her Masters & Doctorate degree in Economics from Harvard University.
She is the valedictorian & a summa cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines School of Economics.
She speaks fluent English, Filipino and competent in Chinese (Mandarin & Hokkien).
