The European Community Shipowner's Associations (ECSA) is an organization that represents shipowners in Europe. The organization is based in Brussels, Belgium. ECSA's diverse fleet of container ships, tankers, passenger ships, bulk carriers, offshore service vessels, and many other specialized ships contribute a total of €147 billion to the EU's annual GDP. The fleet also boasts one of the best safety records in the world. Recently, ECSA welcomed the agreement on the Basel III rules reached between the European Parliament and the Council, which gives explicit recognition to ship finance. The organization has pledged to deliver on the shared responsibility with policymakers to resolve the crew change crisis that has left hundreds of thousands of seafarers stranded at sea. Founded in 1965, ECSA's strategic priorities include climate and sustainability, trade competitiveness, internal market, innovation and digitalization, human resources, safety, legal affairs, taxation, and better regulation.
