Joel H. Levy

Mr. Joel H.
Levy is a Portfolio Manager at Teachers Advisors LLC.
He is the sector lead municipal portfolio manager and group head of Nuveen’ public markets municipal taxable and tax-exempt bond strategy team.
Additionally, He is a member of Nuveen’s mutual fund municipal investment team.
He has extensive experience in government having most recently served as the assistant city treasurer and municipal debt manager for the city of Charlotte, North Carolina.
He joined the firm in 2011 after working for Bank of America’s credit, product and pricing group.
He began his municipal finance career working for U.S.
Congressman Michael Forbes and subsequently held analyst positions with the Albany County Comptroller’s Office and the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (NYAHSA).
Additionally, he previously worked for Deloitte as a senior Consultant.
He graduated with a B.A.
and an M.A.
in Economics from The State University of New York – Albany, an M.B.A.
from Wake Forest University and a J.D.
from the Charlotte School of Law.
He has also earned a post-graduate certificate in Corporate Treasury Management from Duke University.
He is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts.
He is a licensed attorney in the state of North Carolina.
