He began his career as an Equity Portfolio Manager for Schroders in London.
From 1987 to 1992, Mr. Smith was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Murray Johnstone, responsible for global funds for North American clients.
In 1992, he co-founded Blairlogie Capital Management which was backed and majority owned by PIMCO, and was Chief Investment Officer until it was acquired by Ignis Asset Management (formerly Resolution Asset Management) in 2008.
During this time, he developed the proprietary ‘MASAM’ (Market and Sector Allocation Model) approach.
Mr. Smith has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from London University and he graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh University in 1984.
He is an Associate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals (UKSIP) and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
