James D. Portman

Mr. Portman joined Tower Asset Management and its affiliated broker/dealer, ML Stern & Co. LLC, in 1993 as General Counsel, heading both companies' legal departments.
In 1999, he assumed full responsibilities for the Compliance and Human Resources departments.
In January 2001, Mr. Portman was appointed President of Tower Asset Management and Chief Operating Officer of ML Stern.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis, California in International Relations and Economics and studied international economics in Brussels, Belgium (Libre d'Universite, Bruxelles).
Mr. Portman graduated from California Western School of Law, San Diego, California, and was admitted to the California Bar in 1986.
