Ileana Arias

Ileana Arias joined the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention in 2000 and has been a Director since July 2005.
Prior to her current position, she was appointed Acting Director of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention in June 2004.
Previously, Dr. Arias was an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia.
She began her career as a Research Associate at the Stony Brook University (formerly State University of New York at Stony Brook).
Dr. Arias received a BA degree from Barnard College and an MA degree as well as a PhD in Psychology from the State University of New York.
