Mr. Drew S.
Backstrand is General Counsel at North Central Equity LLC.
He served as General Counsel of NewTel Holdings LLC from 2002 to 2004.
From 1999 until 2002 he was a consultant to or acted as legal counsel for other companies founded or invested in by Mr. Baer.
He was General Counsel and Assistant Chief Operating Officer of a development stage viatical and life settlement-funding company (1996-97).
He spent nine years with the general counsel's office of Green Tree Financial Corporation, at the time a NYSE fortune 500 diversified financial services company, as Vice President, Legal, Associate General Counsel and General Counsel (1986-1995).
He began his legal career in the corporate finance arena with the Dorsey and Whitney law firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1984-1986).
He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Glenn E.
Kelly of the Minnesota Supreme Court (1983-1984).
Mr. Backstrand received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School cum laude in 1983, and BS degree from Carleton College, magna cum laude, in 1979.
