The association was formed in 2010 and offers five courses that cover topics such as the history and current health status of First Nations communities, policy-making, accountable governance, recruitment and retention of health human resources, health programs and services, and cultural influences on decision making and behaviors in communities. The FNHMA is based in Canada, and the CEO is Marion Crowe. The courses also cover professionalism, continuous learning, ethical considerations, and self-care.
