The firm was founded in 1966 as Despa (Deutsche Sparkassen-Immobilien-anlage-Gesellschaft mbH). They are wholly owned by DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale, a subsidiary of Deutscher Sparkassen-und Giroverband eV. DIIG is the investment fund manager for both fund products related to real estate and infrastructure as well as investment funds related to financing.
