Unternehmensgründung

Die Gründung des Unternehmens geht auf das Jahr 1853 zurück, als in Marquette-lez-Lille im Norden Frankreichs, die Unternehmer Louis Bonduelle-Dalle und Louis Lesaffre-Roussel eine Korn- und Wacholderbeer-Brennerei einrichteten. Neun Jahre später, im Jahr 1862, erwarben die beiden Unternehmer ein Kloster mit Brennerei und Ländereien in der Kleinstadt Renescure. Im Jahr 1901 wurden die Betriebe unter den beteiligten Familien aufgeteilt.
1926 entwickelten die Nachfahren von Louis Bonduelle-Dalle, Pierre und Benoit Bonduelle die Geschäfts-Idee, Gemüse so zu verarbeiten und haltbar zu machen, dass es jederzeit verfügbar und bequem zuzubereiten ist. Zu Beginn wurden Erbsen auf eigenen Feldern angebaut und anschließend manuell in Konservendosen gefüllt.
Durch die Nutzung des von Nicolas Appert entwickelten Sterilisationsverfahrens („Appertisieren“) gelang es, die Vitamine und die Frische des Gemüses weitgehend zu erhalten. In den ersten Jahren produzierte der Familienbetrieb circa 120.000 Dosen Gemüse. Um der großen Nachfrage nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges gerecht zu werden, arbeitete Bonduelle mit zahlreichen Landwirten aus der Umgebung zusammen. Bis heute hat sich an dieser Situation nichts verändert, lediglich die Verarbeitung von Gemüse wurde in den Jahren kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt.
