The Group's principal activity is to explore, acquire, develop, produce and market natural gas and crude oil. Its project areas are focused in the Antrim shale of Michigan and New Albany shale of Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky. On May 11, 2006, the name of Cadence Resources Corporation was changed to Aurora Oil & Gas Corporation.

Michigan Oil & Gas Association is a non-profit organisation. It represents the exploration, drilling, production, transportation, processing and storage of crude oil and natural gas in the State of Michigan. The company monitors the pulse of the Michigan oil and gas industry as well as its political, regulatory, and legislative interest in the state and the nation’s capital. It is the collective voice of the petroleum industry in Michigan, speaking to the problems and issues facing the various companies involved in the state''s crude oil and natural gas business. The company was founded in 1934 and is headquartered in Lansing, MI.
