Jabr Salim

Dr. Jabr Salim is a Member at Sand Hill Angels, Inc. Recently, Dr. Jabr was a partner in Alpenio, a 40 Gb/s fiber optic data transmission startup.
Alpenio was recently sold to Samtec to broaden its products in the super-computing field.
Dr. Jabr ’s other investments include a pharma fund with Alta Partners and he consults for Bay area venture partnerships.
Dr. Jabr was CTO for United Cable Co. an internet and video distribution startup owned by KIPCO, a Kuwaiti holding company, and VP marketing for Chromux, an optical add-drop switch company.
Previously Dr. Jabr founded ORCA, a DWDM fiber optics company then joined Ditech Communications in 1995, where he became VP Engineering and Development for fiber optical products.
Ditech Communications became a public co.
in 1999.
Dr. Jabr previously held engineering, R&D and management positions at SDL, Raychem, Litton Guidance and Control and the University of Southern California.
Dr. Jabr earned a PhD in Engineering and Applied Science from Yale( ’79) and sat on the Yale Graduate School Development Board from ‘02 to ’06.
