Acadia Trust NA is the trust and investment arm of Camden National Corp. (AMEX: CAC), a multi-bank and financial services holding company. The Portland, Maine office of Acadia Trust originated in 1984 with the founding of Gouws Capital Management, Inc. as an independent, SEC-registered investment advisor. Acadia was chartered in 1992 as an affiliated, non-depository trust company. To broaden their range of capabilities by acquiring the ability to serve as trustee and custodian, Trust Company of Maine was chartered in 1994 as a non-depository trust company and it subsequently absorbed the business of Fiduciary Services, Inc.
