Michael Adler

Mr. Adler joined ORIX Finance in June 2006 from Goldman Sachs’s Specialty Lending Group (SLG), where he was the head of asset management.
Based in Dallas, he was responsible for SLG’s $1.8 billion portfolio of middle market loans.
He was among the original group of SLG employees recruited to build the SLG platform as a Greenfield.
In addition, he was integral to completing SLG’s $2 billion warehouse line financing and its $3 billion CLO financing.
Prior to joining SLG in 2004, Mr. Adler was executive vice president/western group manager for Fleet Capital, the middle market cash flow and ABL lending division of Fleet National Bank.
In this capacity, he was the senior Fleet executive in the Western US and had overall responsibility for a business unit with $1.5 billion in funded assets and 75 employees.
Based in Los Angeles, the unit was an independent profit center and was fully self-contained, with marketing, underwriting, portfolio, audit, operations and finance infrastructure.
He successfully grew this business while also resolving a significant problem loan portfolio and repositioning the business in the marketplace.
Before joining Fleet in late 2000, Mr. Adler was managing director of ING Barings’ Merchant Banking Group, based in Los Angeles.
He was one of the original members of the team that developed and executed the Merchant Banking strategy and oversaw all aspects of the business’ western United States operations.
The Merchant Banking Group grew to over $1 billion of fundings and, through credit and warrant returns, produced a 10 year ROE in excess of 30%.
Prior to joining ING in 1992, Mr. Adler held a variety of lending and management positions with GE Capital, Security Pacific National Bank and Bank of America.
Mr. Adler is a 1983 graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where he earned a bachelor of business administration degree, with economics and political science minors.
