The firm invests €0.5-€5 million as a minority stake in start-up and early expansion phase businesses which have above average growth and return potential, technologies, products or services unique in the market, an entrepreneurial management team, above-average return on investment prospects, a solid financial base and a transparent financial structure. DTSI acts as a catalyst between Deutsche Telekom and investee companies, partnering with management to provide access to the Group's expertise and network of contacts, including national and international political, industrial and scientific representatives which can facilitate entry into the telecommunications industry. The firm's funds are aligned with three strategic business areas: broadband/fixed network, mobile communications and business customers and the overall group strategy. They coordinate their funds' investment strategy with their business units, aiming to tap important market and technology trends which benefit Deutsche Telekom. DTSI aims to exit investments after 5-7 years, typically in the form of an IPO or trade sale.
