Emil Salim

Emil Salim is the founder of The Indonesian Biodiversity Foundation, established in 1994.
He currently holds positions as Vice Chairman at the National Planning Council since 1970, Professor at the University of Indonesia from 1975 to 2008, Member of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences since 1992, and Member of the Brundtland Commission.
Previously, he served as Deputy Chairman of the National Development Planning Agency from 1968 to 1973, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesia Ministry of Communication & Information, Indonesia Ministry of Tourism, and Indonesia Ministry of Transportation from 1973 to 1978.
He also held the position of Chairman at the Komite Ekonomi Nasional and Director at the Government of Indonesia from 2000 to 2004.
Additionally, he was a Member of the Institut Teknologi Bandung from 2001 to 2006, Member of the Indonesian Economists Association from 2006 to 2009, Member-Supervisory Board of the Aceh-Nias Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Agency from 2005 to 2009, and Member of the Komisi Nasional Hak Asasi Manusia from 1998 to 2003.
Dr. Salim's education includes a doctorate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964 and an undergraduate degree from the University of Indonesia in 1959.
