RCIML's overall investment strategy begins with a top-down approach based on fundamental macroeconomic research and direct contact with Russian policy makers in order to determine the firm's investment policy. This first stage also includes an asset allocation process based on fundamental sector analysis and the assessment of key growth factors and volatility of return. This step is the responsibility of the investment committee. Subsequently, the firm picks stocks following a bottom-up process based on the mosaic theory. They use a proprietary valuation model and conduct company visits. This process is the responsibility of portfolio managers. The firm's traders execute orders. RCIML manages portfolios invested across asset classes, regions and sectors with the bulk of their investments in Russian securities. They also have specialist expertise for European emerging markets. They engage in both active and passive management.
