Khazanah Nasional Bhd. (Khazanah) is the wholly-owned investment holding arm of the Government of Malaysia. Khazanah was incorporated in 1993 as a public limited company to manage the commercial assets held by the Malaysian Government and to undertake strategic investments, aiming to build a globally competitive Malaysia by shaping selected strategic Malaysian industries and nurturing their development. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Khazanah also has representative offices in Penang and Beijing, China. Their primary objectives are to hold and manage the investments entrusted to them by the Government of Malaysia and to undertake investments in new sectors and new markets where there are strategic opportunities. Khazanah is empowered to promote economic growth and make strategic investments on behalf of the Government of Malaysia which contribute towards nation building. They are also tasked to nurture the development of selected strategic industries in Malaysia with the aim of pursuing the nation's long-term economic interests. They invest in companies in Malaysia and abroad in a variety of industries, seeking to drive shareholder value creation, efficiency gains and enhance corporate governance in Government-Linked Companies.
